How Does Invisalign Work?
Most people are familiar with dental braces. Braces use wires, brackets, and bands to shift teeth gradually over a one to two year period. They may not be as familiar with Invisalign, and many of our patients ask, “How does Invisalign work?” We are always happy to answer.
How does Invisalign work? In some ways, it works just like braces by gradually shifting teeth into their proper positions. In other ways, Invisalign is nothing like braces. It uses no brackets, wires, or bands. Instead, Invisalign uses clear aligners, which are similar to retainers or mouth guards. These aligners are made of a strong, durable thermoplastic material. Treatment begins with a comprehensive treatment plan based on a virtual model of your teeth.
This model is used to create your treatment plan and your aligners. Each set of aligners focuses on specific teeth, and after wearing the aligners for two weeks, you will need to move to the next aligners in the series. These will focus on different teeth while maintaining your progress. Over time, your teeth will become properly aligned with a comfortable bite. How does Invisalign work for you? We will be happy to explain in more details at your appointment! Call us now to schedule your consultation with our Burbank Invisalign expert.
